Support the Marigold Project
Marigold Project is a community-based organization deeply rooted in the rich cultural traditions of the Indigenous/Latinx community in San Francisco's Mission District. Founded in 1992, our mission is to serve by creating healing spaces that connect us to our ancestors and our impermanence in One Spirit. We are the proud producers of the annual SF Day of the Dead, Festival of Altars, the Ritual Poetry Circle in Potrero Del Sol Park, and the After Dark Murmuration at the Exploratorium. We offer community-accessible programs encompassing art healing workshops, writing workshops, altar-building skills, and cultural education.

We preserve Indigenous and Latinx traditions, combat cultural erasure, and ensure these practices thrive in our communities and beyond. Our work is guided by the Cardinal Directions and the Elements, which are based on Indigenous wisdom that forms the core of our mission.

We understand that every individual story contributes to the rich tapestry of our shared history, and we strive to provide a space where all voices are heard, all experiences acknowledged, and all art expressions valued. Our Goals
We foster a sense of belonging, pride, and continuity within the Latinx and immigrant communities we serve. Our ceremonies, events, and workshops aim to strengthen our connection to our roots, enhance our understanding of Indigenous practices, and provide tools for navigating grief and celebrating life. We seek to educate and foster appreciation in communities beyond our own, promoting intercultural understanding and respect.
We strive to preserve and celebrate our cultural traditions, contributing to San Francisco, California’s diverse cultural wealth. We are dedicated to expanding our efforts through collaborations with local artists, educators, and other organizations and institutions, fostering a spirit of community and shared goals, securing the cross-fertilization of ideas and practices, and providing further opportunities for cultural education.
As we look to the future, we focus on continuously evolving to meet the needs of our community, upholding the traditions that bind us, and celebrating the circle of life and death. This shared experience unites us all.
